Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Program Quality and Improvement Branch (PQIB) Chief, Career Executive Assignment, the Education Administrator I (EA I) provides leadership and direction of statewide field services work and oversees supervision of staff in managing the Program Quality and Integrity (PQI) Bureau, which is one of five bureaus in the Branch. The PQI Bureaus collaborate with the managers in the PQIB. The EA I is responsible for a variety of management functions that include administration, supervision, policy, fiscal, program and representation in support of contract compliance monitoring and program training, policy development and implementation, and technical assistance. Ongoing extensive travel exceeding 50% is required to attend meetings, presentations, trainings, and collaboration with staff on regional visits, or other work-related purposes. A valid CA driver's license is required for the position.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for Hybrid work. In-person attendance is required based on the operational needs of the position and in accordance with   the Statewide Hybrid Telework Policy, Government Code section 14200, and any applicable department telework requirements.  The successful candidate must reside in California at the time of appointment. Proof of California residency may be required .

Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

Statement of Qualifications must be no more than two pages in length, size 12-point Arial font. Please include each question followed by your response, addressing the following:

1) Please describe your education and professional experience specifically related to early childhood education state systems for subsidized child care and development programs.
2) Discuss your experience in developing and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, including state and federal departments, local governments, advocacy organizations, and community partners. Share specific examples that demonstrate your approach and success.
3) Share examples of systemic changes you've implemented to promote equity and expand access to child care and development programs. Explain the strategies you employed and the impact of your efforts.
4) Detail your leadership experience, emphasizing your ability to think strategically, manage complex projects, and develop high-performing teams. Provide examples of projects you've led, how you overcame obstacles, and the results you achieved.
